# Demo sandbox

> Try Flax with no login at /demo — it runs entirely in your browser on DuckDB-WASM, and nothing you do is saved to any server.

The [public demo](/demo) lets you try Flax without an account. After a one-time asset download, everything runs **100% in your browser** — there is no sign-in and no server round-trip.

## How it works

The demo loads a DuckDB engine compiled to WebAssembly (DuckDB-WASM) along with a sample dataset. Your browser downloads these assets once, then all queries, edits, and charts execute locally on your machine. No request ever reaches a Flax API, and nothing you do is stored server-side.

> The demo is client-side by design (ADR-0051): no authentication, no `/api`, no persistence.

## What you can try

- **Sheets** — open the spreadsheet, enter formulas, and model on top of the sample data.
- **Dashboards** — explore prebuilt dashboards, apply filters, and cross-filter by clicking charts.

It is a faithful preview of the exploring, sheets, and visualization surfaces, running against a fixed sample dataset.

## Limitations

- **No persistence.** Reloading the page resets everything — your work is not saved.
- **No real connections.** You cannot point the demo at Postgres, Snowflake, Databricks, or BigQuery; it only uses the bundled sample data.
- **No accounts or sharing.** Sign-in, invitations, comments, and deliveries are not part of the demo.
