Formatting & theming

Format numbers, set legends and value labels, and brand your charts with an org color theme or a per-chart palette.

This page covers how numbers appear on your charts and how you brand chart colors — per chart and across your whole organization.

#Number formatting

Each chart has a Format control that sets how values render on axes, tooltips, and labels:

Style Example Notes
number 900,000.00 Standard grouped number.
plain 900 000 Space-grouped, no decimals.
compact 1.23M / 123k Three significant figures by magnitude.
currency $1,234.00 ISO currency code (default USD).
percent 12.3% Share as a percentage.

For number, currency, and percent you can set decimals from 0 to 4. plain and compact use fixed precision.

Other display options include legend position (top, bottom, left, right, or hidden) and Show numbers, which draws value labels on bars, line points, area series, pie slices, box-plot medians, and funnel steps. You can also enable labels on individual series only.

#Chart colors

Chart color is layered, most specific wins:

  1. Per-chart palette — a "Colors" control in the chart editor sets an explicit palette for that one chart, overriding the org theme. Clear it to inherit again.
  2. Org chart theme — the workspace default (see below).
  3. Built-in default — the "Flax" palette, which is colorblind-safe.

#Org-level chart theme

An organization can set a chart theme so every chart matches your brand, in both light and dark mode. Configure it under Appearance (/app/settings/appearance, "Chart theme"):

  • Pick a preset — Flax (default), vibrant, cool, warm, or grayscale — each with tuned light and dark palettes.
  • Or author a custom palette of hex colors (minimum two), with a live preview.

Important

Saving the org chart theme is admin-only. Every member's charts render with the saved theme so the workspace stays consistent. Custom hex colors apply to both light and dark mode as entered; presets are tuned per mode.
