Comments and notifications
Discuss dashboards, charts, and sheets with threaded comments and @-mentions, and keep up with activity in your notification inbox.
Flax lets your team discuss content in place and surfaces relevant activity in a personal inbox. This page covers commenting and the notification surface.
#Comments
Comments attach threaded discussion to a dashboard, chart, or sheet. Open the comments panel on a resource to read and add them.
- Comments load over
/api/commentsand stream live over/api/comments/stream(Server-Sent Events), so new replies appear without a refresh. - You can edit or delete only your own comments.
- Mention a teammate with
@to pull them into the thread. Each mention fans out a notification to the mentioned user.
#Notifications
Your notification inbox collects events that concern you across the organization. Common kinds include:
| Kind | Raised when |
|---|---|
comment.mention |
Someone @-mentions you in a comment. |
resource.shared |
A dashboard, chart, or sheet is shared with you directly. |
Each notification links to the resource it refers to, so you can jump straight to the comment or shared item.
Manage your inbox with these endpoints:
GET /api/notifications— list your notifications.POST /api/notifications/{id}/read— mark one as read.POST /api/notifications/read-all— mark everything as read.
Note
Notifications are per-user and scoped to your active organization. Delivery is best-effort — the underlying action (a comment, a share) always succeeds even if a notification cannot be written.
